Sheridan's Big Night Out featured in the St George & Sutherland Shire Leader.

The St George & Sutherland Shire Leader has published a feature on Sheridan's Big Night Out, shining a light on the community coming together to honour Sheridan's legacy through the Confident Girls Foundation.

The article highlights the sponsorship of Sutherland Shire resident Lisa Curtis of Highland Property, whose personal connection to the cause led her to support the inaugural event. Lisa was introduced to the family's story through her sister, who worked with Sheridan's brother, and felt a natural connection to the mission of empowering girls through sport.

In a special tribute to Sheridan's lifelong love of the St George Illawarra Dragons, Lisa reached out to former Dragons player Jason Nightingale. Knowing that Sheridan kept a photo in her car of Nightingale's 2010 premiership-winning try, the NRL legend confirmed he will attend the event in support of the family.

"Supporting Sheridan's Big Night Out is an opportunity to carry forward a legacy built on inclusion, confidence, and community."

Our Story

Honouring Sheridan. Empowering Girls.

A legacy built through netball, confidence, and community.

On 28 September 2025, the Apter family lost their beautiful daughter and sister, Sheridan, aged just 35. In the midst of profound grief, one thing was immediately clear: Sheridan’s life had to be honoured in a way that truly reflected who she was and what she loved.

And for Sheridan, that meant netball.

From the age of eight, netball was her world. For 27 years she played, umpired, coached and mentored. More than that, Sheridan had a rare gift—she made people feel like they belonged. She built confidence, created community, and ensured no one was ever left out.

A Perfect Fit: Netball with Purpose

When the Apter family began searching for a way to create a meaningful legacy, they sought an organisation that embodied Sheridan’s values of inclusion, confidence and opportunity. That search led them to the Confident Girls Foundation.

The Confident Girls Foundation exists to support women and girls experiencing disadvantage, using netball as a powerful vehicle to build confidence, skills, friendships and leadership. For the Apter family, it was an immediate and heartfelt connection.

“Instilling Sheridan’s passion, confidence and love of the game of netball in others is a wonderful tribute.”
— Anne Apter

Sheridan’s Big Night Out

To honour Sheridan’s legacy and support the work of the Confident Girls Foundation, the Apter family created Sheridan’s Big Night Out with the inaugural event being held on March 21st. A trivia night and auction bringing Sheridan’s community together for a cause that truly matters.

The response has been overwhelming. Sheridan’s Big Night Out is now officially SOLD OUT.

This is a powerful reflection of the love and support surrounding Sheridan, the Apter family, and her wider network of friends and family that she cherished so deeply.

While tickets are no longer available, there are still meaningful ways to be part of this legacy. Donations go directly toward programs that empower girls and young women across Australia.

This is only the beginning! The Apter family are a passionate and deeply committed force for good, determined to turn their love for Sheridan into meaningful, lasting impact. In recognition of Sheridan’s legacy, they are focused on creating positive change and making a real difference for women and girls through netball.

Every act of support—donating, sharing, or spreading the word—helps ensure Sheridan’s passion for inclusion, confidence and connection continues to live on.

Together, we can continue her legacy through netball.
